Spring is officially here on Saturday, and Gloucester is ready for it. Saturday's calendar is one of the fullest I've seen — a chili cookoff, a sound bath, a wine release, live roots music, a kids' paint class, and a Master Gardener talk, all within a few miles of Main Street. That's not a weekend, that's a whole season compressed into one day.
Before all of that — tonight and tomorrow there's still good stuff happening. The Working Waterfronts photography exhibition at York & Main is genuinely worth a stop. It's the kind of work that reminds you why living here means something. A portion of sales supports Hold Fast, a Gloucester nonprofit that takes veterans crabbing and oystering as therapy for PTSD. Stop in Thursday, Friday, or Saturday — gallery hours are 11–4.
And yes — the Daffodil Festival is one week from Saturday. Start planning now.

Working Waterfronts Photography Exhibition
Award-winning photojournalist Rob Ostermaier spent years documenting the people who live and work on the water along rural coastal Virginia — crabbers, oystermen, the ones still doing it the old way. This week, that work is on the walls of York & Main on Gloucester's Main Street. A portion of sales benefits Hold Fast, a Gloucester nonprofit that brings veterans out on the water — crabbing and oystering — as therapy for PTSD. Go for the photography. Stay for what it means.
