Haven Beach Reopens After Renovation with New Sand from Dredging Project
After being closed since March, Haven Beach in Mathews has officially reopened. This reopening follows a major beach restoration project, which involved adding 40,000 cubic yards of new sand to the shoreline. The sand was sourced from the recently completed dredging project at Hole in the Wall, the channel linking Milford Haven to the Chesapeake Bay.
This restoration is designed to enhance the beach experience for visitors. However, Mathews County has advised caution: while the beach is open, construction of offshore breakwaters will continue through June. Swimmers are encouraged to be vigilant and avoid the barge and equipment still present in the area.
So, while you can enjoy the refreshed sands of Haven Beach, remember to stay safe and steer clear of ongoing construction work.
